A port is the combination between computer with peripheral devices. Peripheral devices like a monitor, LCD and keyboard that are connect with computer. A number of types are available in these are connect with computer. The speed of these ports measure Gigabytes per second, Mbps and Kilobytes per seconds etc.
A port is basically connection with external devices like a printer and drive etc. Some features of Computer ports are as follow:

The speed of serial port data travel in this port one hundred and fifteen kilo bytes per second. Serial port is mostly connect devices which is not require fast data like a mouse and keyboard etc.
Parallel Ports
Transfer of data many bits at same time this interface is known as parallel ports. In parallel ports, connect data at many bits at a same time it means that is use for fast data transmission like a printer and scanner etc. Parallel ports mostly use LPT. LPT stands for Line Printer Ports. Its speed is fast than serial port twelve megabytes per second. This type is not use in Modern computers because it is a older type of ports.
USB
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus port. It is most common kind connect with devices to computer. It us use to connect all external devices like a USB flash drive, external hard disk, printer, scanner, digital camera, mouse and keyboard etc. Almost one hundred and twenty seven various devices connect with single connector type. In smart phones and tablets universal serial bus use power supply for various devices. At least two ports use in mostly desktop computers and laptop. Modern 3.0 standard transfer speed is 4.8 gigabytes per second.
PS/2 ports
These are use to connect devices like a mouse and keyboard with personal computer for:

VGA ports

- Game port is basically connect with joystick. Joystick consist of two parts stick and base. User can move the stick any direction. Joystick is an input device.
- DVI stand for Digital Video Interface this port is use to connect the LCD, monitor to personal computer.
- Sockets port is use to connect with speakers or microphone to sound card etc.
